Bowfishing 101

June 14, 2008 Barren River Lake Resort

The Bowfishing 101 Team arrived at Barren River Lake Resort around noon on Friday 6-13-08. We where greeted by the recreation department employee's and shown where to set-up for the meet-n-great that would take place that evening. The Resort had received several enquires about the Bowfishing 101 Seminar, and where excited to be offering this Free Training opportunity to the guest that where staying at their resort for the weekend. Friday evening we showed Bowfishing DVD's and talked with people about the different types of bowfishing equipment that was on display. Several people stopped by to chat, and watch the bowfishing video that we had playing on the big screen. Everyone picked up copy's of the Bowfishing Equipment catalogs that we had put out that where provided by the Support Groups major bowfishing equipment Sponsors.

After enjoying a very nice buffet style breakfast in the Lodge dinning room on Saturday morning, the Training Team was ready for a busy day. The Seminar started around 9:00 am with men, women and youth all eager to learn about the sport of bowfishing. All during the classroom portion of the training individuals would ask great questions about all the different types of equipment that is being used to hunt fish with. The Training Team would show and explain the different types of bows, arrows and reels that are being used by today's bowfishing enthusiasts.

We took a lunch break around 12:00 pm and  told everyone that they would have an opportunity to shoot at the 3D Fish Targets that we had set-up out by the swimming pool area when they came back from eating. The hands on portion of the Training Seminar is always a big hit, and it gives everyone that attends the seminar the opportunity to hold and use equipment that has been equipped for bowfishing. Also it gives everyone the opportunity to win a New AMS Bowfishing Retriever Reel. We place a thumb-tack on the Muzzy 3D Buffalo Target, and the individual that shoots the closest to the tack wins the new reel. And did I mention that the target is moving when they tale their shot. The winner's shot was only a inch from the tack, now that was some great shooting!!!

We all had a good time, and everyone stated that they learned a lot about the sport of bowfishing. I would like to personally thank Barren River Resort for hosting the Bowfishing 101 Event, and providing the Training Team with a very nice training facility.
